Auburn, Indiana – Worldwide looks set to deliver on its intention to put Auburn, Indiana back on the global map as a definitive collector car auction destination. Consignments to its significantly expanded three-day Auburn Auction, scheduled for September 1-3 over Labor Day weekend, already include a line-up curated to suit all automotive tastes. Visitors can look forward to a diverse, world-class selection of exceptional pre-war automobiles, sports cars, classics, race cars and select American muscle cars, including an outstanding no-reserve offering of 77 great automobiles from The Rockhound Collection. Among the heavyweight selection of early consignments are an ACD Club certified 1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe that has never before been offered for sale, an authentic, period-raced and impeccably documented 1925 Bugatti Type 35A Grand Prix, a rare 25th Anniversary edition 1990 Lamborghini Countach, one of the last Countachs ever built, and Robert Redford’s 1928 “Gatsby Rolls”, star of Hollywood’s celebrated 1974 movie, The Great Gatsby.

One of the highlights of The Rockhound Collection is a preservation class 1931 Duesenberg Model J Blind Quarter Sedan, offered at no reserve, with original engine, body and chassis.
“This wonderful motorcar has quite the global pedigree,” said Rod Egan, Principal and Auctioneer. “Sold new in Paris to the last Crown Prince of the Austria-Hungarian Empire and later owned by the Sursock family of Lebanon, one of the world’s wealthiest families, it still performs beautifully to this day, as evidenced on our own 2022 Enthusiast Tour here in Auburn in April.”

Also offered without reserve from The Rockhound Collection are a beautifully preserved and multiple award winning 1964 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 with just 3,200 miles, a well-documented 1936 Bentley 4 ¼-Litre Airflow Sedan, exhibited by Gurney-Nutting at the Olympia Motor Show in 1936, and a fascinating 1927 Packard Dual Windshield Phaeton, notably used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to visit his Works Progress Administration Projects. Other no-reserve cars selling at The Auburn Auction include an exquisitely restored, Duntov award-winning 1958 Chevrolet Corvette 283/290 ‘Fuelie’ Convertible, 1 of only 157 produced, and a rare and beautiful 1946 Ford Sportsman Convertible, a perfect 1,000-point Dearborn award winner. Modern sportscar enthusiasts can look forward to some blisteringly fast examples, including an impeccably documented and exceptionally low-mileage 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS and a highly optioned and authenticated 2016 Porsche 911R, one of the most sought-after Porsches ever built.
